The premium paid for renewable energy which is passed through to consumers as Eskom has no control over the cost is likely to continue for some time into the future. The way in which the cost of these contracts is integrated into the tariff needs further reflection as it results in ongoing increases in the tariff with no consideration being given to the impact on the resultant tariff on customers.
